What is meant be a golf slice?

A slice is an undesirable shot hit by a golfer that follows a left to right trajectory for a right handed golfer and right to left for a left handed golfer. In this article we will be talking about the right handed golfers. A shot in which the ball curves a little lesser but ends up little far from the fairway is called as a fade.

Almost all beginners hit slice and they don’t know the reason behind it. And, not knowing the reason makes it very difficult to cure slice and hit the ball in a fairway which everyone wants. But, willing to hit the ball in the right direction is different from hitting the ball straight and cure slice. Of course, it is important to be willing to do it, but to really cure slice you need to know the reason behind it, and then only you can try the techniques to cure slice. Practicing these techniques until you get success is also very important.

Cause of Slicing

Basically, the cause of slicing is not being able to hit the ball squarely with your golf club. This angle made while striking the ball can be due to various factors like following the out to in swing path, not standing with a correct stance or not gripping the club as it should be done. If you are able to figure out where you are making mistake then it will be easy to cure slice, else you can take help from someone you know who is good at golf or maybe a pro.

What can be done to cure slice?

Once you know the cause of slicing, you are going to get a solution soon and with some practice you will be sure of never slicing the ball again. Basically, you need to try to strike your club squarely with the ball to cure slice and hit the ball in the fairway.

- Check your Grip. Don’t stress your fingers and palm too much while gripping. Relax your palm and grip the club a little gently. Holding the club tightly can cause unwanted twists while the swing and can cause you to slice the ball.

- Have a standard stance. Don’t stand too far or too close to the ball, your feet should be at the shoulder distance.

- Concentrate on your swing path, follow an in to out swing path. Swing is one of the most important factors that can affect your shot and lead you to slice, so to cure slice you must be very careful while swinging your club. Try not to hit the ball with too much power, and keeping this in mind keep the speed of your backswing a little slower.

Perfection is achieved by practice, actually a lot of practice so, if you are trying to hit the perfect shot in golf, then you will have to work on it. Watching videos showing how to cure slice can also help you in achieving what you want.
